How to make a photo 20 KB or less

  1. The Under 20 KB preset is already selected. If your form also gives a minimum (for example 10–20 KB), enter it in Min KB.
  2. If the form asks for exact pixels, enter the width and height. Otherwise leave them empty and the tool picks a sharp size that fits.
  3. Choose your image, tap Resize & Compress, check that every item shows ✅, then download.

20 KB is a common limit for application photos and signatures on government, exam and university portals. A phone camera photo is usually 2–5 MB, about 100–250 times bigger, so it has to be resized and compressed before the portal will accept it.

Always check the size rules in the official notification for your form.

Frequently asked questions

Can every photo be reduced to 20 KB?

Usually yes, if the pixel dimensions are small enough. A passport-style photo around 200 × 230 px fits easily. A very large fixed size such as 2000 × 2000 px may not fit in 20 KB, and the tool will tell you instead of giving you a broken file.

Will my 20 KB photo look blurry?

If you don't set dimensions, the tool makes the image smaller in pixels instead of lowering quality too far, so faces and text stay sharp.

Is my image uploaded?

No. Processing happens in your browser and the file never leaves your device.
